ABOUT KIM

I am so excited to embark on my third trip to Uganda! I've been attending Christ Fellowship Eldorado in McKinney, TX for the past 7 years, and when I heard that they took a summer trip to Uganda, I just knew I had to be on that plane. Floyd Stanley was actually the one to talk me into going on the church planting trip that first year (he appealed to my love of music)...and I just can't seem to stop!

I've been blessed to know the "StanClan" for the past several years, and I can't wait to experience this new adventure with them. Since our first trip together in 2011, we've been talking about wanting to go for a longer period of time so that we could see what everyday life is like there. We'll (attempt) to learn the language and culture. We’ll learn how to cook, go shopping in the markets, and do our laundry as the Ugandans do. We’ll work alongside them in the hopes of sharing the love of Christ through our words and actions.

I am very thankful to have a job that allows me the time to take this extended trip. I've been teaching 3rd and 4th grade for the past 6 years, and have felt truly blessed to be used by the Lord in the lives of so many children. And although I love teaching, I have a deep longing to serve the Lord on the mission field. I don't know what that will look like in the future, but for right now, I am content to give Him my summers. I love the following quote...

I want to be a normal young woman living in American, sometimes. But I want other things more. All the time, I want to be spiritually and emotionally filled every day…I want to share God’s love with people who otherwise might not know it…I want to make some kind of difference, no matter how small, and I want to follow the calling God has placed on my heart. I want to give my life away, to serve the Lord with each breath.

My prayer is that I would continue to be used by the Lord in whatever capacity He sees fit. I pray that the Lord would use me and the Stanley's to accomplish His purposes, and would continue to teach us more and more about Himself. I pray for the people that we will serve—that they would be open to hearing the good news of Jesus Christ. And I pray that God would use this trip to give me clarity about the future and how I might continue to serve Him.

May He receive all the glory!
