get involved

Friends, we leave for Uganda in 6 weeks. For those of you that think 6 weeks sounds like a long time, try 44 days. Does that sound like a lot of time? I'm quite certain it is going to fly by!

It's Tamra writing this note to you. I know that the Stanley family needs just over $7,000 to be fully funded. I don't know exactly where Kim's at because we haven't discussed it this week, but I know she's not fully funded.

I feel 100% certain that every dollar given to this mission will be used for good. We have done, and continue to do, everything in our power to keep the cost at a minimum. I also feel 100% certain that every single dollar donated is important. Yes, some people can afford to give a few hundred dollars. Some even give a $1,000 or more; but most people are not in that position. However, if every person gave something, I think we'd all be shocked at how fast it would add up. Just like God multiplied some loaves of bread and fish, he can multiply our money.

Would you be willing to join the team? Jump on board with God's mission. We'll definitely let you know how you're support changed a life (or two or who knows how many). Heck,  by this time next year, you won't remember the random money you spent here or there. Wouldn't you rather blow $10 or $20 to make an eternal impact, rather than eating some more fast food or buying another _____ on sale. You may not remember it next year, but the recipient of your eternal gift will remember it forever.

Tax deductible donations can be made online with check or credit/debit cards.

We thank you for any support that you're able and willing to give!

Documenting our journey...

The StanClan and Kim have been planning our 2 month stay in Uganda for almost a year now. For a while now, we've known that while we're there we want to be able to share thoughts and events with all of our family and friends back home in the U.S. We also want to be able to share prayer requests with our partners. So, in an effort to make this more efficient for everyone, we created this blog.

Throughout our trip, we will post whatever comes to mind. We will do our best to identify who is typing any particular posts, so as to avoid confusion. (As I mention that, let me share that Tamra is typing this message.) :) You can follow all of us on this great adventure. Perhaps from time to time, even the kids will share some thoughts.

As God continues to guide our steps over the years to come, we'll continue to use this blog as long as it seems appropriate. While the Stanleys and Kim may not always be on mission in the same physical location, we'll always be on the same team; so it seems fitting that we can share our adventures no matter where they may lead. Also, it will be fun to forge some sort of relationships with people whom we might not otherwise meet: Kim connecting with people that we lead to this blog and us connecting with people that Kim leads here.

We leave for Uganda on June 10th, so I have no idea what you'll see on here before then. Perhaps we'll have plenty to say, or maybe it will be sparse. Either way, we'd love to have you with us on this journey, especially once we board the plane. We need plenty of prayers for support and preparation in the 59 days remaining until departure AND we'll need plenty of prayers when our feet are on the ground.
